WILLARD A. HANCOCK

          Funeral services for Willard A. Hancock, 3115 St. Mary's Avenue
will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the South Funeral home. 
Dr. A. Sterling Ward will officiate and interment will be in Grandview
Burial park.  Friends may view the remains at the funeral home Thursday.
          Mr. Hancock passed away in Levering hospital at 7:30 o'clock last
night.  He was born in Lee county, Ia, March 25 1877, son of Isaac and
Rachel Craig Hancock.  His wife, Flora M. Hancock preceded him in death
February 25, 1952.  Mr. Hancock was a member of the First Methodist church.
          He was an inventor in his own right, having perfected and
patented a line of garden implements which he manufactured in Montrose, Ia.
For 25 years.  Later he operated a jewelry store for 15 years in Keokuk,
Ia. Moving to Fayetteville, Ark, where he conducted a jewelry store for
five years.  He retired in 1944 at which time he came to Hannibal where he
has since made his home.
          Until he moved to Fayetteville, he had lived his entire life in
Lee county, Ia.
          Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harry Camery with whom he made
his home in Hannibal and Mrs. Lewis J. Baun of Quincy, Ill., one son, Rev.
C. W. Hancock of Fayette, two grandsons, Winton and Paul Lee Hancock of
Fayette, one foster son, David Rose of Hannibal, one sister, Mrs. Nellie
Brown of Keokuk, one brother, Fremont Hancock of Montrose, nieces, nephews
and other relatives.
