Royal B. "Jack" Pierce, 89, of Grinnell died of a heart ailment
Wednesday at Friendship Manor Care Center, where he had been a resident for
three years. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Woodward Christian
Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Woodward Cemetery.
Mr. Pierce, a former self-employed trucker and a retired
custodian at Woodward High School, was born in Boone and lived most of his
life in Woodward before moving to Grinnell.
Surviving are a son, Bill of Des Moines; two daughters, Lyene
Schrodter of Montezuma and Nadine Wooley of Many, La.,; a brother, Mervin
of Venice, Calif.,; 16 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. at the church. Brandt Funeral
Home in Woodward is handling arrangements.
