MAE L. (HENKENMEYER) HANCOCK

          Mrs. Mae L. Hancock, 78, formerly of 1037 Adams, died at 11:05
a.m. Sunday (Feb. 11, 1979) in Good Samaritan Home, where she had been a
resident since November.
          Mrs. Hancock was born Feb. 19, 1900, in Quincy, a daughter of
August and Fredericka Wittland Henkenmeyer.  She was a member of St. James
Lutheran Church and the Sewing Circle.  She married Estle G. Hancock, May
18, 1923.  He died May 29, 1960.
          Surviving is a sister, Mrs. Elvin (Ruth) Doht of Quincy.
          She was the last of her family and also preceded in death by a
son, Donald G. Hancock, three brothers and two sisters.
          Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Hansen-Spear
Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Hugo C. Kaeding.  Burial will be in
Greenmount Cemetery.
          The family suggests memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran
Church or Good Samaritan Home.
