Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Belle Hancock, 91, were held in
the Nieters Chapel in Fort Madison, Friday with burial in the Montrose
cemetery.
Born April 11, 1876 on a farm near Hurdland, Mo. She spent most
of her life in Montrose. She has been a resident of the Metz Nursing Home
at Donnellson the past three years and died there Tuesday at 10 p.m.
On Oct. 17, 1900 she married Edward H. Hancock of Hurdland. He
died Nov. 23, 1949.
Surviving are a son, Benton Hancock and a daughter, Mrs. Bernice
Kellar, both of Fort Madison. Also one granddaughter and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hancock was active for many years in the Montrose Methodist
church and served as choir director for many years.
