LEONARD HANCOCK

          Word was received by Mr. and Mrs. Fremont Hancock, of the sudden
death of their son, Leonard Hancock, of Des Moines but formerly of
Montrose.
          Leonard and a companion had been hunting about thirty miles from
Des Moines, and had returned and were removing the guns from the car.  In
some way the gun in the hand of the companion was discharged.  Mr. Hancock
was killed instantly.
          Leonard Hancock was born at Montrose, Iowa, in October 1901.  He
attended the public schools and was graduated from the Montrose high
school.  He was married to an Ottumwa girl.
          He is survived by his wife and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fremont
Hancock, and the following brothers: Floyd and Ralph Hancock of Ft.
Madison, Iowa, Russell and Kenneth Hancock of Montrose; and four sisters,
Mrs. Oscar Owen of Corydon, Iowa, Mrs. C. B. Gray of Williamsburg, Iowa,
Mrs. Lawrence De mire of Sandusky and Elizabeth Hancock of Montrose.
          N. J. And W. A. Hancock of Keokuk are uncles.
