Mrs. Irene Hancock, 90, died at 1 p.m. today at the Hocker
Nursing Home in Keokuk where she had been a resident the past four years.
The former Irene Lucetta Van Ausdall, she was born in Kansas but
had lived the past 70 years in Montrose. In 1891 she was married to Monte
Hancock. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Hancock was a member of the
Methodist church.
Survivors include three sons, Russell and Ralph Hancock,
Montrose; Floyd Hancock, Fort Madison; four daughters, Mrs. Oscar Owens,
Fort Madison; Mrs. Hazel Cummings, Monrovia, Calif.; Mrs. Charles Schwiete,
Keokuk; Mrs. Jess Kilmer, Winterset, Iowa; 17 grandchildren and 35 great
grandchildren. Two sons preceded her in death.
The body is at the Schmidt Funeral Home in Keokuk where
arrangements are pending.
