EFFIE (HANCOCK) WAGNER

          Funeral services for the late Mrs. Effie Hancock Wagner were held
from the Methodist church in Montrose Friday afternoon, Sept. 13, at 2:30
o'clock with the Rev. J. D. Stevens officiating.
          Mrs. Wagner was born in Donnellson, Aug. 29, 1879, and was
married in Keokuk to J. A. Wagner on Aug. 9, 1900.  Surviving are her
husband; a daughter, Mrs. J. O. Stoval, Ottumwa; a brother, C. C. Hancock,
Donnellson; two sisters, Mrs. Robert L. Smith, Los Angeles, Calif., and
Mrs. John Samson, Fort Madison; an aunt, Mrs. A. J. Applegate, Old Monroe,
Mo., and a grandson, Jimmie Joe Stoval.  Her parents and one brother
preceded her in death.  She was a member of the Montrose Methodist church
and of the Royal Neighbors of America.  Burial was in the Montrose
cemetery.
