CLYDE C. HANCOCK

          Clyde C. Hancock, aged 73, son of the late Wm. And Greda Hamilton
Hancock, passed away in his home in Donnellson Saturday, February 21, at
2:30 p.m. after a several months lingering illness.
          He was born May 23, 1874, at Charleston and spent all of his life
in Lee county except for several years when he was a brakeman on the C. B.
And Q railroad and lived in Kansas City and Pattonsburg, Mo.  He also
served several years as a contract mail carrier at Donnellson.
          He was a member of the Methodist church in Donnellson.
          He was united in marriage to Carrie Groomer in Pattonsburg, Mo.,
in 1906.
          He is survived by one son, Harry D. Hancock, of Seattle, Wash.,
and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Smith of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. Maude
Samson of Fort Madison.
          He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mrs. Effie
Wagner, and one brother in infancy.
          Funeral services were held in the Agnew Funeral Home Monday
afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by the Rev. Alton H. Zischke.
          Mrs. C. I. Redfern and B. F. Warren Sang the hymns "Near to the
Heart of God" and "Rock of Ages."  They were accompanied by Miss Nancy
Redfern.
          The body was laid to rest in the Donnell cemetery, the following
being pallbearers: Al Lowenberg, C. W. Warren, A. D. Krebill, Lloyd
Fairlie, B. F. Warren and Otto Kempkes.
