CLARENCE HENRY HANCOCK

          Clarence Henry Hancock, 73, of Brashear, died at 6 o'clock Sunday
morning, Nov. 12, 1972, at the State Hospital at Mt. Vernon.  He had been a
patient there the last two months and a resident of Brashear the last six
years.  Prior to moving to Brashear, where he was engaged as a painter, he
farmed southwest of there.
          Funeral services were at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the
Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Brashear with the Rev. Edmund Johnson of
Laurel, Iowa, and the Rev. David Alspach of Brashear officiating.  Burial
was in the Brashear Cemetery.
          Surviving are his wife, the former Marie M. Payne, whom he
married June 17, 1930, at Brashear, two sisters, Mrs. Eva Payne and Mrs.
Vesta Riley, also of Brashear, and nieces and nephews.
          Mr. Hancock was born Feb. 16, 1899, in Adair County, a son of
David N. And Ida Steel Hancock, who preceded him in death as dis his three
brothers and twin sisters, all in infancy.  Mr. Hancock was a member of the
Brashear Community Bible Church.
