ALICE M. (CARSON) REED

          OTTUMWA - Alice M. Reed, 98, formerly of 728 S. Moore St., died
at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 17, 1990, at the Greenvalley Health Care Center in
Dixon, Tenn.
          She was born on Oct. 10, 1891, in Ottumwa, to Charles and Storia
Miller Carson.  She married Burley Reed on June 21, 1917, in Waterloo.  He
died Oct. 3, 1969.
          She was a resident of Ottumwa all her life until 1975 when she
moved to Dixon, Tenn.  She was a member of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple.
          She is survived by a daughter, Gladys Mc Callister of Ottumwa,
two sons, Frank and Charles of Ottumwa; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
          She was preceded in death by a son, Jim Reed; five brothers and
four sisters.
          The service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Reece Funeral Home in
Ottumwa, the Rev. A. D. Pringle of the Ottumwa Baptist Temple officiating. 
Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa.
          Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
          The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Friday.
          Memorials may be made to the Lifeline at Ottumwa Regional Health
Center.
